Generally speaking, when shopping for jewelry, consumers should focus more on quality than finding a bargain. One way for the average consumer to judge the quality of a piece of jewelry is to look at the back of the piece. If it is nicely finished on the back and sides, chances are the piece is well constructed. However, if there are signs of roughness, porosity, excess solder, or poorly soldered joints, it is likely that the piece is not worthy of consideration. High-quality pieces have a smooth, polished finish throughout, even the areas behind the gemstones. When evaluating jewelry, consumers shouldn’t automatically assume that high price is indicative of quality. Bottom line? Choose a jeweler you can trust.
