Whimsical Jewelry

By: Jeffrey M. Bertman Graduate GemologistIf you are not yet familiar with Salvador Dali, the best thing to do is Google the surrealistic artist’s paintings, sculptures, and other works of art. Be prepared to be astonished, and even shocked, by what you see. Some of the late artist’s pieces are iconic, such as the painting known as “The Persistence of Memory” that depicts a surreal image of melting watches. Another of Dali’s famous pieces is a brooch that features lips made of rubies surrounding pearly white teeth. While this piece of jewelry was created in 1949, it has recently become the inspiration of a number of newer rings, pendants, and earrings with lip and mouth motifs. These flirty pieces are tongue-in-cheek homages to the Master.See our outstanding selection of beautiful offerings at 1402 Hancock Street, Quincy Center.
